Guiding Lost Families Home for Over 100 Years
a shelter for women and their children.
Every year, our goal is that every Pacific Lifeline child starts the school year with new clothing and supplies, encouraging them to love learning and be excited about school. If you'd like to sponsor a Pacific Lifeline child for back to school by providing items like clothing, a backpack, and school supplies, please contact Kirsten at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our shelter's Tutoring Program and this Back to School Program are the beginning of something great in the lives of Pacific Lifeline's resident children. These programs work together to help the children get up to their grade level (and beyond), and it also helps them develop a love of learning that continues after they leave the shelter. This helps transform their futures and breaks the cycle of poverty for their families. This can be seen in the lives of our resident children who grow up to become high school and college graduates. Here are some examples just from this 2017 graduation 'season':
J1 graduated from Baldwin Park High School on June 1, 2017. She will be going to an ROP course, taking the Early Childhood Development class. It's a 12 month course. She starts June 19. J2 graduated from Rio Hondo Community College. She received her AA and transferred to CSULB. She will graduate in 2018 with her BA. She has currently applied to be a cadet for Anaheim and San Gabriel police departments and is awaiting the process.
My daughter V, who is 25, just graduated from CalState Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in history. She wants to become a lawyer. She got accepted to University of LA Verne School of Law. She is passionate about getting a law degree so she can serve others on a higher scale.
C graduated on June 8 from Upland High School class of 2017. She has been on the honor roll all four years of high school. She is currently registered to attend Chaffey College in the fall, and she's anticipating trying to work this summer to gain some life skills in order for her to obtain a job in order to assist her with off-campus expenses. We are all so proud of her accomplishments. She will be a strong young lady and she has definite leadership skills that will help in the near future.
My son M graduated from high school on May 24th!! I'm soooo proud of him!
